Any Words of Wisdom (living out the blog title)
A few weeks ago, our daughter got the cutest, ugly dog that you have ever seen, and promptly named him Alex.
Alex is friendly, playful, good with children, but there is one problem...house broken he is not. We have tried regular walks outside, going "potty" 30 minutes after meals, having him in a small pen in the kitchen during the day (which Houdini somehow gets out of), but have had no luck.
Words of advice from you guys would be great!

Is the pen a pen or a crate? If not, get a small pet crate. He stays in the crate until it's time for walkies, and then afterwards, he can play a but until he goes back into the crate.
It worked with Sunny, at least. And he was hard to housebreak.
So he was in the crate during the day? We are gone so long sometimes, it just seems cruel. We have a crate for night, but during the day it is a pen.

I know it seems cruel. But it works. And in my limited experience, it's the only thing that works.
We tried other methods with Sunny. Then we crated him, day and night, for a week. That worked, and he's been housebroken ever since.
We tried it yesterday and so far, no problems. It should only be a couple of times a week. I think he is finally old enough to really know. Next...snip snip.
